Biodiversity

Biodiversity has recently been recognized as an important part of environmental management with the promulgation of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (No. 10 of 2004). AGES can provide services for the assessment of aquatic and terrestrial biodiversity through the utilization of respected experts in the various taxonomic disciplines necessary for reliable biodiversity surveys.

The biodiversity unit can provide the following services:
  • Identification of areas of high endemism
  • Identification of areas displaying high biodiversity (Hotspots)
  • Baseline biodiversity surveys
  • Biodiversity management plans
